Welcome to the ACT4DYS Training Package! This interactive, open-access resource is designed to empower young people, youth workers, and disability advocates to take action for sustainable and inclusive urban development.
Cities belong to everyone. However, persons with disabilities very often face physical, digital, informational, and attitudinal barriers that limit their independence and participation. The ACT4DYS Training Package combines theoretical insights with hands-on, simulation-based learning to help identify these obstacles and champion accessibility across communities.
What is the Aim?
The main goal of this Training Package is to build capacity, knowledge, and confidence in fostering disability-inclusive cities. By leveraging real-world scenarios, and practical tools, the training supports a structural transition from basic awareness to tangible real-world impact.
Who is it For?
This Training Package is designed for:
Youth workers & trainers: Looking for practical, ready-to-use methodologies to run inclusive workshops and simulation activities.
Young people & young persons with disabilities: Interested in learning about their rights, Universal Design, and how to advocate for accessible public spaces.
Local authorities, municipalities & civil society: Seeking to understand how urban planning, green mobility, and accessibility connect.
The general public: Anyone passionate about making cities fairer, greener, and more accessible for all!
What’s Inside?
- Thematic module content: Comprehensive, structured units covering core theoretical concepts, including Universal Design principles, identifying accessibility barriers, sustainable urban mobility, and policy advocacy.
- Simulation-based scenarios: Immersive, realistic role-playing exercises that place learners in real-world urban planning and accessibility challenges to build empathy and problem-solving skills.
- Practical activities: Hands-on individual and group exercises, interactive tasks, and local audit exercises designed to translate learning into actionable community practice.
