ACT4DYS - About

About the project

The project addresses and fosters collaboration among youth workers, young people, including those with disabilities, decision-makers, and organisations working towards social and environmental sustainability.

Through targeted actions and advocacy, the project seeks to empower youth and individuals with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard in shaping policies and urban development. By involving key stakeholders, including policymakers, NGOs, and civil society organisations, ACT4DYS drives meaningful change toward greener, more accessible cities for all.

ACT4DYS - About

Project Aim

ACT4DYS aims to enhance awareness, accessibility, and inclusivity in urban mobility for youth—particularly those with disabilities and those reliant on alternative transportation—while empowering them to contribute to climate action and the creation of more sustainable, inclusive cities.

Accessibility and Inclusion for Youth with Disabilities

Traditional urban transportation systems often lack inclusivity, making them difficult for young persons with disabilities to navigate. Accessibility is a critical concern, as it affects the independence and quality of life of these individuals.

Urban Environmental Challenges

Cities contribute significantly to climate change, by producing large amounts of CO2 emissions and creating traffic congestion, which lead to air pollution, noise pollution, and health problems.

Bridging Policy, Research, and Practice

There is a pressing need to connect policy, research, and practical initiatives to address the needs of young persons with disabilities effectively. Inclusive urban mobility requires evidence-based approaches that inform policymaking and promote the active participation of youth in shaping solutions.

The project will address these needs and challenges by:

objectives

Design and develop innovative material and resources on sustainable urban development and inclusive mobility, including an e-learning platform with interactive modules and mini-games.

objectives

Develop and disseminate a policy paper with actionable recommendations for improving urban mobility inclusivity, targeting local and national authorities in all partner countries, by consolidating project findings and leveraging the consortium’s networks for policy advocacy.
